Have You Seen It?

Have You Seen It?

Here is a little-known fact about me.  I only like to watch movies one time.  I’m serious… ONLY ONE TIME!  Why would I watch a movie again when I already know the plot and the story's end?  There is no mystery and no surprise.  ONLY ONCE.  You know those people that watch the same move over and over again?  Yeah, that's the behavior of someone who has lost their mind.  🙂

Speaking of movies…have you seen “End of the Spear”?  If you haven’t, you must.  I would encourage you to watch it as soon as possible.  “It is the story of Mincayani, a Waorani tribesman from the jungles of Ecuador. When five young missionaries, among them Jim Elliot and Nate Saint, are speared to death by the Waorani in 1956, a series of events unfold to change the lives of not only the slain missionaries' families, but also Mincayani and his people” (IMDb).

Jim Elliot and Nate Saint, along with their families, followed after the Lord with complete abandon.  They valued the Lord and his call upon their lives above all else.  In Scripture, Paul wrote, "But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God" (ESV, Acts 20:24). Our Lord and his calling upon our lives is to be held in priority above all else.

Our Lord is worthy. Jim Eliott prayed, “Lord, make my way prosperous, not that I achieve high station, but that my life may be an exhibit to the value of knowing God.”  I would say his prayer was answered.

Now, go watch the movie.  Maybe even again and again.
