Romans: Week 23

What does it really mean to see ourselves clearly? Romans 12:3-8 invites us into one of the most honest and liberating conversations in all of Scripture -- the call to sober self-judgment. Not the kind of self-assessment that tears us down, and not the kind that inflates us with pride, but the kind that sees us as we truly are: gifted by God, placed in a body of believers, and called to contribute. The passage reminds us that every ability we carry is a gift, not an achievement. That reframes everything. When we stop competing for recognition and start recognizing the Source of our strengths, something shifts in how we serve, how we relate, and how we worship. This message challenges us to examine the quiet pride that can creep into our service, while also confronting the false humility that keeps us on the sidelines. Both extremes miss the mark. The call is to step into what God has placed within us -- with clarity, with gratitude, and with a genuine desire to serve the body of Christ.
